Phyto-Codex

This project explores the role of the flower as a vector of meaning across cultures and historical periods.

Used as a universal language, the flower has endured through the ages, carrying multiple meanings. It is given to loved ones, as well as at funerals and religious ceremonies.

It embodies life, death and renewal.
Through these uses, they become a silent medium, revealing and influencing the emotions, beliefs and rituals that shape human nature.

Through various works:

  • Hymenoptera Psychosis examines our schizophrenic relationship with nature and its symbols.
  • The Private Water addresses the management and appropriation of resources, particularly water.
  • The Tulip Crisis explores the commodification of life, referencing the first speculative crash linked to an obsession with a flower.

Further works will enrich this constantly evolving research.
